Level of VET Qualifications in Australia

The qualification in vocational education and training is outcome-based, focusing on the occupational skills and competencies acquired. The Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) recognizes prior learning or existing abilities within the industry. This facilitates credit transfer and offers students flexible learning pathways. Qualifications include four levels of certificates (I, II, III, and IV), as well as diploma and advanced diploma courses.
Certificate I
  • Duration: 6 months to 1 year

  • Duration: 1.5 to 2 years
  • Overview: Involves advanced coursework and serves as a pathway to a Bachelor's degree.

While there are many private VET (Vocational Education and Training) colleges in Australia, only a handful of them provide accredited courses that are recognized by the Immigration Department for migration purposes. Therefore, VET (Vocational Education and Training) applications can sometimes be more complex than Higher Education applications.
